Te Puka Tavern is an east coast icon situated 90km from Gisborne along the picturesque SH35, an easy and pleasant drive northeast of the Gisborne city.

 

Sitting on the water’s edge of the Pacific Ocean, looking over beautiful Tokomaru Bay, it is the ideal place to stop and rest awhile and meet the friendly people of the East Coast. The Te Puka Tavern has provided hospitality to travelers and locals alike since it was established in 1873.

 

It was rebuilt in 1988 after Cyclone Bola swept the original pub off its foundations. Te Puka Tavern now offers travelers cafe and pub food, accommodation is available in modern units, we also have powered parking for self-contained camper vans and of course a well-stocked and welcoming bar.
